I am a contemporary art curator, art theorist, and independent cultural manager born in Sardinia, Italy; currently living and working between Spain, Italy, and South Africa.
With an academic background in Art Theory, Sociocultural Anthropology, and Economics, I hold a PhD in Humanities from Pompeu Fabra University (Barcelona) and the University of the Western Cape (Cape Town). My doctoral research, The Economy of the Curatorial and the Fields of the Contemporary Art World (2019), examines the intersections between curatorship, economy, and the global art market, with a particular focus on post-apartheid South Africa. This work reflects my ongoing interest in exploring artistic and curatorial practices in relation to the value systems of the contemporary art world.
With over 15 years of experience, I have held roles as curator, artistic and executive director, academic researcher and university professor. My career has led me to collaborate with institutions such as MACBA Museum and Foundation (Barcelona), the Pompidou Museum and the Kandinsky Library (Paris), the CDAN (Huesca), JAG Joburg Art Gallery (Johannesburg), LagosPhoto Festival (Nigeria), African Art in Venice Forum (Venice Biennale), Loop Festival and Barcelona Gallery Weekend (Barcelona), as well as with galleries including Joan Prats, Senda, ADN Gallery, Ana Mas Projects, SMAC Gallery, Everard Read, and Goodman Gallery, among others.
I have a deep curatorial interest in emerging artistic practices, supporting artists at the beginning of their careers to shape their voices and visions. My work spans diverse mediums and themes, often focusing on urgent socio-cultural and ecological issues.
I currently serve as the guest curator for Tomorrows/Today at the Investec Cape Town Art Fair (2023–2025), an international and independent program dedicated to identifying emerging artistic practices.
I also share my expertise through lectures, debates, and workshops. My curatorial practice is complemented by my work as a cultural manager, building connections between artists, institutions, galleries, and collectors, thereby generating meaningful synergies within the contemporary art world.
Recently, I served as the Artistic and Executive Director of the fifth edition of By Invitation (2024) at the Círculo Ecuestre de Barcelona, where I redirected the focus of the art salon toward intergenerational dialogue and emerging talent, particularly highlighting female voices from the national scene such as Charo Pradas, Esther Boix, Magda Bolumar, Marina Vargas, Sara Bonache, and Lena Laguna Diel, among others.
Throughout my career, I have curated exhibitions, coordinated projects, and written texts for artists from diverse geographies and profiles. These include emerging voices such as Cassi Nomada, Joana Choumali, Talia Ramkilawan, Micha Serraf, Lhola Amira, Lindokuhle Sobekwa, Boemo Diale, Edi Dubien, Manjot Kaur, Natalie Paneng, Gaston Lisak, Alan Carrasco, Marc Herrero, Marco Siciliano, Bruno Marrapodi, Paco Chanivet, Raquel Friera, Marlene Steyn, Maria Sosa, Raphael Sagerra Finok, Cinthia Sifa Mulanga, and Rita Sala, as well as internationally recognized artists such as Sandra Vásquez de la Horra, Gino Rubert, AES+F, Evru/Zush, Peter Halley, Jaume Plensa, and Antoni Miralda, among others.
Through my project The Good Art Advisory, I collaborate with other art professionals to provide curatorial services for companies seeking to engage with contemporary art in an informed, ethical, and strategic way, fostering a positive impact on the artistic ecosystem.
